Groovy Granite : event description
Groovy Granite takes place on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Lee River, Manitoba, on the historic grounds of the AECL Underground Research Laboratory. This is the third edition and the route runs along the rim of a large granite batholith with views of the Lee River and boreal forest.
The event offers a looped course with three distance options:
- 21 km loop
- 14 km loop
- 7 km loop
An aid station at the start/finish provides water, electrolytes, Sunrype bars, fruit, chips and pickles. The race is cupless so participants must bring a reusable cup or hydration pack. Drop bags are available for 14 km and 21 km participants. On-site medical support is provided and the race director may remove participants for safety reasons. A four hour cutoff is applied to the course.
All finishers receive a custom medal and top finishers receive awards. Early registration by May 10 offers event gear and personalized bibs. Professional course photos are provided free of charge. Entrants can earn MATR points via UT of MB. The event policy states no refunds after registration; bib transfers are permitted until June 7.
