Grit & Grace Trail Race
The event includes a 12 hour trail race and a 6 hour weighted ruck held at Camp GuilRock in Reidsville, North Carolina. Camp GuilRock is a 210 acre camp at 531 Beville Road. Camping is available off course and check in and check out take place under cover or in the indoor pavilion. A firepit will be available for participants and spectators.
The course is an approximately 3 mile loop made up of grassy trail, gravel road, single track, and forest road. The route features gentle rolling terrain with stretches of flat ground. There is one aid station in the start area stocked with Tailwind, LMNT, and water. Because the event takes place in February, a light source such as a headlamp is required and a backup source is encouraged.
The 12 hour format records completed laps; each lap must be finished to count and laps finished after the event time do not count. Every three hours entering the transition area will reverse the running direction. Finishers receive awards that list the distance achieved and there are overall awards for first and second male and female.
The 6 hour ruck uses a weighted scoring format where each lap score equals the carried weight in pounds times the lap distance in miles, recorded as Kz. Packs are weighed before the start, at lap completion, and when leaving for the next lap; the official weight for a lap is the lesser of the relevant weigh ins. The event uses a Race Passport system for lap tracking and employs FLAP and SLAP lap formats with SLAPs shorter and avoiding mud or elevation.
