Grit and Grace Trail Race
This event offers two timed formats on a roughly three mile loop at Camp GuilRock in Reidsville, North Carolina. The loop runs over grassy trail, gravel road, single track, and forest road with mostly gentle rolling terrain and extended flat sections. One central aid station at the start area supplies Tailwind, LMNT, and water; participants may bring their own nutrition.
The 12 hour trail format asks runners to complete as many full laps as possible within the period. Lap totals are recorded only when a lap is finished and the course direction is periodically reversed during the event. A light source is required for the 12 hour race and a backup or second light is encouraged. Canine partners are permitted in the 12 hour event.
The 6 hour ruck uses a weight times distance scoring system called Kz. Each lap score equals the carried weight in pounds multiplied by the lap distance in miles. Packs are weighed at designated check points and the official weight for each lap is the lesser of the measured values. Participants may change carried weight between laps.
A Race Passport will be stamped and scanned at each completed lap to assist tracking. The event offers off course camping, a covered check in area or indoor pavilion, and a shared firepit for participants and spectators. Tapping out is allowed at any time and all finishers receive an award; overall awards are given for first and second male and female. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
