Griffin Challenge

The Griffin Challenge is a timed running event held at the Braybrooke Taproom near Market Harborough. The event follows a 6-hour format where participants can run, hike, or walk as many laps as they choose within the time limit. The course consists of a 3.3-mile out-and-back loop, allowing participants to dictate their own total distance.

The route primarily follows the Griffin Trail and Brampton Valley Way. The terrain consists of well-maintained crushed stone surfaces, including a recently resurfaced section on the Griffin Trail. There is a short 100m stretch across a grass trail. The course is relatively flat with gentle climbs on the outbound leg and provides views of arable farm fields. Because the majority of the path is not under tree cover, participants are exposed to the elements.

Available distances based on lap counts include:

  • 3.3 miles
  • 13.1 miles (4 laps)
  • 26.2 miles (8 laps)
  • 50+ miles

The venue offers free parking and onsite toilets. The taproom is open for refreshments such as pastries, cakes, coffees, and beer. Participants receive a medal and a drink upon completion, or they can opt for a tree token that results in a tree being planted and provides wildflower seeds to take home. The event is open to entrants aged 16 and over and is suitable for rucking. Dogs are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
