The Great Herts AONB Event 2027

The Great Herts AONB Event takes place on 6 June 2027 in Gosmore near Hitchin, Hertfordshire. The event uses tracks and trails through the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and nearby village countryside. Routes include flat, undulating and hilly sections.

All races start and finish on the Gosmore village green, with Maydencroft Lane serving as the actual start line to allow a mass start. Free parking is available a short walk from the event village.

Distances for runners and riders include:

  • The Tough Ten: 10 km run for ages 16 and above.
  • The Hard Half: 13.1 miles 21.1 km trail route.
  • The Mighty Marathon: 26.2 miles 42.2 km trail route.

Riders use the same routes as runners and set off before runners for each distance. The sequence of events places the riders of each distance ahead of the corresponding runners. A children’s Runners and Riders event takes place on the village green while other routes are in progress, with some proceeds and portions of adult entry fees directed to chosen charities.

Event services include a race bib with integrated timing chip, electronic timing and live results, baggage drop, course signage and marshals, medical provision, drink and water stations, snacks on half and marathon routes for runners, printed route maps and downloadable GPX files, a race village with food and stalls, music at start and finish, bespoke medals, awards and downloadable finisher certificates. Race numbers may be collected the day before or at race HQ and organisers will provide entry details to participants by email. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
