The Grand Canyon Trail Half Marathon will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026. It is part of an event that includes a marathon, half-marathon, marathon relay, 5k, and a children's 5k. This is the event's eighth year.
Location & Course
The race starts and finishes in Tusayan, Arizona, at the IMAX Visitor Center. The course goes through the Kaibab National Forest on the Coconino Plateau, near the Grand Canyon South Rim. The terrain includes forest jeep roads with rocky sections, soft dirt, and hard-packed dirt, finishing on a paved path. The half-marathon distance is noted as being slightly longer than 13.1 miles, closer to 13.35 miles.
What's Included
Participants receive a commemorative medallion and a free beer at the finish. The first 600 registrants get a colorful long-sleeve shirt. Results are chip-timed and include finish line video. There is a post-race artisan fair with local and Tribal vendors.
Logistics & Notes
The event is developed in partnership with the Town of Tusayan, the Tusayan Fire Department, the IMAX Visitor Center, and the Kaibab National Forest. Pets are not allowed on the course. The course is within the Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument.
