Event Overview
The Full Moon 5K Trail Run/Walk is the inaugural edition of this event, taking place at Brandywine Creek State Park in Wilmington. It is a fundraising event supporting three nonprofit groups: The Friends of Brandywine Creek State Park, GRIT: Girls Really Into Trails, and the Delaware Interscholastic Cycling League.
Course Details
The event covers a 5K distance on the trails of Brandywine Creek State Park. The course includes natural surface elements such as rocks, roots, and grass. The start and finish line, as well as bib pickup, are located at the top of the Hawk Watch Parking Lot at the park.
Post-Race Activities
After finishing, participants can watch the moonrise of the Flower Moon from the top of Hawk Hill. Post-race amenities include music, lawn games, s'mores, snacks, and a drink ticket (with adult beverages for those 21+). S'mores and lawn games are free for participants and their families. Participants are encouraged to bring a chair.
Other Information
Leashed dogs are permitted at the event. Awards are given for overall and masters male/female finishers, as well as the top three in standard age groups. Additional prizes are available for top NICA coaches and riders. Participant amenities include a custom bib, stickers, post-race snacks, and flower seed packets.
