Frightening 4 Trail Run/Hike
The event is the first annual Frightening 4 mile trail run and hike at York River State Park in Williamsburg, VA on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The course is open to runners and hikers and has a two hour time limit.
The trails are dirt with rolling hills, roots, and twists. Part of the course follows the York River and offers water views. Three of the four miles are narrow single track and about one mile is a wider gravel trail.
The format is non competitive; official times will be posted but there are no overall or age group awards. All finishers receive a finisher medal. Participants who wear a costume receive a race logo temporary tattoo. A race T shirt is not included and must be added during registration if desired.
Parking is included and the parking area is located very close to the start and finish area. Indoor restrooms are close to parking. No aid stations will be on the course, so participants may need to carry water. Leashed dogs are allowed, though trails are narrow and mainly single file. If a finish time is expected to exceed 1.5 hours or if conditions are cloudy, personal illumination may be advisable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
