Frightening 4 Trail Run/Hike
The Frightening 4 is a 4 mile trail run and hike held at York River State Park in Williamsburg, VA. It is presented as the first annual edition on a new trail not previously used by events. Runners and hikers are both welcome and the event has a two hour time limit.
The course is primarily dirt with rolling hills, roots and twists. About three of the four miles are narrow single track and roughly one mile follows a wider gravel trail. Part of the route runs along the York River and includes water views.
The event is non competitive; all finishers receive finisher medals and official times are posted but there are no overall or age group awards. Participants who wear costumes receive a race logo temporary tattoo. Parking is included and the parking area is close to the start and finish; indoor restrooms are nearby. No aid stations are provided on course, so participants should plan for their own water. Leashed dogs are allowed but trails are narrow and mainly single file. A race T shirt is not included and must be added when registering. Post race refreshments will be available. If a finish is expected to exceed 1.5 hours or if conditions are cloudy, personal illumination is recommended. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
