Freedom Run Backyard Ultra and 5K
The Freedom Run is part of the Goodridge Veterans Freedom Festival and takes place in July 2026 in Goodridge, Minnesota. The event includes a traditional community 5K run/walk and a new Backyard Ultra endurance race. Proceeds support the Warrior Trail Foundation, a nonprofit that helps veterans through trail running.

The 5K will use the same local course layout and will have runners turn around on course to complete the distance. There are no awards for the 5K but participant times will be tracked. Pre-registration is appreciated but not required. Registrations received by July 13 are guaranteed a T-shirt; later registrations are not guaranteed shirts.
The Backyard Ultra follows the traditional backyard format on a single-loop course starting and finishing near A.C. Tvedt Park. Runners must complete the 4.167 mile loop each hour, may rest between loops, and may stop at any time. Runners completing 24 hours receive an award; the final remaining runner receives a unique prize. Crews are permitted but not required. Runners must provide their own nutrition and supplies. A designated area will be available for chairs, coolers, small items, and tents. All except the final finisher will be recorded as DNF with total distance noted.
