Freedom Run Backyard Ultra and 5K : Goodridge, MN (July 24, 2026)
The Freedom Run takes place in Goodridge, Minnesota as part of the Goodridge Veterans Freedom Festival. The event combines the long-running community 5K run/walk with a newly introduced Backyard Ultra endurance race. The location is near the Goodridge Lions Hall at 181 S Urdahl Ave.
The program includes two event formats:
- 5K - annual 5-kilometer run/walk; times will be recorded.
- Backyard Ultra - repeat 4.167-mile loop each hour until one runner remains.
Backyard Ultra details: the event uses a single-loop course that starts and finishes near the Lions Hall. Organizers describe the terrain as very flat and runnable. Each hour requires completion of the loop on the hour; runners have the remainder of the hour to rest and prepare. Crews are permitted. Runners must supply their own nutrition and supplies. A designated area will be available for chairs, coolers, and small personal items, and tents may be set up there. Runners must be present at the starting corral at the top of each hour. No late starts are allowed once an hour begins. No pacing or outside aid is allowed while on the loop. Runners may stop at any time; all runners except the final finisher will receive a DNF with total distance recorded. Runners completing 12 and 24 hours receive a DNF award. A detailed runners guide will be provided to backyard registrants.
Proceeds support the Warrior Trail Foundation, a nonprofit that helps veterans heal through trail running. Registrations received by July 13 are guaranteed a T-shirt; later registrations are not guaranteed a shirt. Registration closes July 22.
