Frankie's Vertical Backyard Ultra

Frankie's Vertical Backyard Ultra takes place at 220 Angus Archie Rd, Mabou, Nova Scotia, Canada. Described as Canada's first "vertical" backyard ultra, the event features an approximately 4 km loop with 370 m of ascent and descent per circuit.

Standard backyard ultra rules apply: each participant has one hour to complete the roughly 4 km loop. Free camping is available at the start and finish for runners and crew during the event. Water and Tailwind will be provided throughout the event.

The registration fee is CA$94.04 and includes race swag, insurance, and a CA$10 donation to the Mabou food bank. Ten dollars from every registration fee will be donated to the Mabou food bank. An annual seventeen stage team relay covering 185 miles around Cape Breton, from Baddeck through the Cape Breton Highlands to the Margaree Valley. The 2026 edition drew 107 team applicants.

Capes 100 is a 100-mile, 86 km, and 46 km trail run across the spectacular Mabou Highlands in Nova Scotia. The course follows the Atlantic Ocean coastline. Main registration is sold out, but waitlists are open for all distances.
