Capes 100 is presented as the first 100 mile trail running race in Atlantic Canada. The event is based in Mabou, Nova Scotia at 220 Angus Archie Rd. The route runs atop the Mabou Highlands and along the Atlantic Ocean coastline, passing beaches, streams and coastal vistas on trail terrain.
Distances offered include:
- 160K (approx. 100 miles), 36hr limit, technical shirt, insurance, finisher's buckle
- 86K, 22hr limit, technical shirt, insurance
- 46K, 14hr limit, technical shirt, insurance
Registration details list fees and included items such as a Salomon technical running shirt, insurance and entry into promotional draws; the 160K category also lists a finisher's buckle. The minimum age to participate is 19 years.
Volunteer roles are available and list benefits including a technical shirt, free camping and eligibility for prize draws. A pacer option is noted for the 100 mile field with a meeting point at kilometer 110. Organizers mention a carbon calculator and suggest considering tree planting to offset event-related emissions.
