Fox Valley Summer XC Classic 5K

The Fox Valley Summer XC Classic 5K is a cross country race held at the Settler’s Hill Cross Country Course in Geneva, Illinois. This venue is a purpose-built facility designed specifically for cross country competitions, including large meets and championship-level events. The course features a wide, 80-meter curved starting line with 40 starting boxes, a 550-meter starting straightaway, and a 250-meter finish straightaway.

The 5K course consists entirely of grass with rolling terrain and non-technical footing. The running lanes are 10 meters wide throughout all loops, providing sufficient space for participants to pass others and select their racing lines. This layout is designed to accommodate large fields of runners while maintaining visibility for spectators.

Participants can register for the following distance:

  • 5K

The event follows a traditional cross country format. Runners register as individuals but have the option to affiliate with a specific team, such as a high school, college, running club, or open group. For those choosing team affiliation, scoring is based on the top five finishers. Individual participation remains a central part of the event.

The racing surface is predominantly grass, making racing flats or trail shoes appropriate footwear. Spikes are permitted depending on the course conditions. Every participant registered by May 25, 2026, is guaranteed a race t-shirt, with subsequent availability based on remaining stock. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
