Course, aid stations and logistics

Most of the courses run on non-technical dirt trails and fire roads with some rutted sections and dune-like hills. Most climbing occurs toward the end of each course. Hiking or trekking poles are permitted. Courses are marked with colored surveyor ribbon placed about every 200 meters; blue ribbons indicate wrong-way trails.

Aid stations offer a variety of foods and drinks such as energy gels, Stroopwafels, trail mix, PB&J, soda, water, and Skratch Labs hydration. Aid stations carry general first aid items but not anti-inflammatory medicine. Drop bag services are not available. Runners are strongly encouraged to carry at least one 20 oz bottle. This is a cupless event; runners must carry their own water bottle or reusable cup. Reusable cups (HydraPak) are available for purchase on site for $5.

Timing and live tracking are provided by San Francisco Running Company via ultralive.net. Parking is available within Laguna Seca for a $5 fee. Awards include trophies for the top three overall, medals for all finishers, a pint glass for 50K finishers, and age-group medals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
