Big Sur Trail Marathon, Half Marathon & 5 Mile
The 36th annual Big Sur Trail Marathon, Half Marathon & 5 Mile takes place on September 26, 2026 at Andrew Molera State Park in Big Sur, California. The event is limited to 300 participants and regularly sells out.

The course runs mainly along Old Coast Road with coastal views and noticeable hills. The route is marked with orange ribbon. The 5 Mile participants turn at the first aid station; Half Marathoners turn at the second aid station; Marathoners complete an additional out-and-back section before returning to the finish.
Aid stations are located at miles 2.5 for all distances; miles 6.5 and 10.5 for half and full; and miles 15.8, 19.7, and 23.7 for marathoners. Portable restrooms are adjacent to each aid station. Participants are advised to carry water. The course cut-off time is 6.5 hours.
Bibs are mailed about a week before the event; participants who do not receive a bib may pick one up on race day. All entrants receive a T-shirt. Medals are awarded to marathon and half marathon finishers. Personalized ribbons for the top three male and female finishers in each age group are mailed after the race.
Parking at Andrew Molera State Park is limited; there is a $10 per car park entry fee (cash). Headphones and audible music devices are not allowed on course. Dogs are not permitted on the Old Coast Road course but are allowed on leash in developed park areas. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
