Big Sur Trail Marathon, Half Marathon and 5 Mile, 2026
The event is a trail running competition held at Andrew Molera State Park in Big Sur on September 26, 2026. It offers three distance options and is limited to 300 participants; entries typically sell out.
The course follows Old Coast Rd and is marked with orange ribbon. The 5 mile entrants turn at the first aid station, half marathoners turn at the second aid station, and marathoners complete an additional out and back section before returning to the finish. Aid stations are located at miles 2.5 for all distances, 6.5 and 10.5 for half marathoners and marathoners, and at miles 15.8, 19.7 and 23.7 for marathoners. Portable restrooms will be adjacent to each aid station. Hikers and walkers may participate. The event enforces a course cut off time of 6.5 hours.
Bibs are mailed to participants about a week before the event; bib pickup is available on race morning at the picnic area if needed. T shirts are provided to participants. Medals are awarded to all marathon and half marathon finishers and personalized ribbons for top three finishers in each age group are mailed after the race.
Parking at the park is limited and there is a park entry fee of ten dollars per car payable in cash. Headphones and dogs on the course are not allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
