2025 Big Sur Trail Marathon, Half Marathon & 5 Mile

The event takes place on September 27, 2025 at Andrew Molera State Park in Big Sur, California. The race offers the following distances:

The field is limited to 300 participants. The start and finish are at the park picnic grounds. The course follows Old Coast Road and includes hilly terrain with coastal views.

Course and logistics

The course is marked with orange ribbon. Aid stations are located at mile 2.5 for all distances; at miles 6.5 and 10.5 for half marathoners and marathoners; and at miles 15.8, 19.7, and 23.7 for marathoners. The event has a course cut-off time of 6.5 hours for the marathon; hikers and walkers may participate. Portable restrooms will be adjacent to each aid station.

Race services include mailed bibs (sent about a week before the event) and race-day bib pickup if needed. T-shirts are provided to all participants. Medals are awarded to marathon and half marathon finishers. Personalized award ribbons for the top three finishers in each age group (male and female) will be mailed. Parking at Andrew Molera State Park is limited; there is a $10 per car park entry fee payable in cash. Headphones and audible music devices are not allowed on course. Dogs are not allowed on the course; they are permitted on-leash in developed park areas. Camping is available at Andrew Molera State Park and Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. Run scenic dirt trails and dune like hills at Fort Ord National Monument in Salinas, CA on February 7, 2026. Choose from 10K, 25K or 50K routes with rolling climbs, on course aid stations, live tracking and a festive post race spread.

Monterey Ultra is a 50 mile trail ultramarathon through Fort Ord and Laguna Seca with coastal views. Limited to 150 runners, the course mixes sandy, rocky and single track with night starts and aid stations.

Tackle the Monterey Trail Experience at Toro Park, a Spartan Trail through rolling golden hills and smooth singletrack from 10K to marathon. Enjoy weekend obstacle races and team entries for shared starts and group pricing.

On July 11 join the San Lorenzo River Trail Run in Santa Cruz and run through coastal redwoods and scenic river crossings. Distances range from 10K to 50K, pre registered runners get T shirts and all finishers earn a custom medal.
