Big Sur Trail Marathon, Half Marathon & 5 Mile : Andrew Molera State Park
This event, presented as the 36th annual edition, offers three trail race distances at Andrew Molera State Park in Big Sur, California. Distances include:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 5 Mile
The course follows Old Coast Road and includes sustained climbs and varied terrain. The route is marked with orange ribbon; the 5 Mile course turns at the first aid station, half marathoners turn at the second aid station, and marathoners complete an additional out-and-back section. Aid stations are located at mile 2.5 for all distances, at miles 6.5 and 10.5 for half marathoners and marathoners, and at miles 15.8, 19.7 and 23.7 for marathoners. Portable restrooms will be adjacent to each aid station and participants are advised to carry water.
Participants receive T-shirts; medals are issued to marathon and half marathon finishers, and personalized award ribbons for the top three finishers in each age group are mailed after the event. Bib numbers are mailed roughly one week before the race; participants without a bib may pick one up on race morning in the picnic area. Distance changes are managed at the picnic area by changing the bib sticker color for timing.
Field size is limited to 300 participants. Parking at the park is limited and a park entry fee of $10 per car applies. Headphones with audible music are not permitted on course. Camping is available at Andrew Molera and Pfeiffer Big Sur State Parks; hotels are nearest in Carmel and Monterey and are approximately a 45 minute drive from the race start. Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable; rollover credit or other options are subject to organizer policies and deadlines.
