2026 Big Sur Trail Marathon, Half Marathon & 5 Mile
The event is the 36th annual Big Sur Trail Marathon, Half Marathon and 5 Mile held at Andrew Molera State Park in Big Sur, California on September 26, 2026. The route follows Old Coast Road and includes sustained climbs with views of the California coastline. The course is marked with orange ribbon and includes aid stations and portable restrooms at several points.

The event is limited to 300 participants. There is a course cut-off time of 6.5 hours for marathoners. Aid stations are located at mile 2.5 for all distances, with additional stations for half marathoners and marathoners; marathoners have further aid stations on the extended out and back. Runners must show their bib to timing staff at the finish. T-shirts are provided to all participants; medals are awarded to marathon and half marathon finishers and personalized award ribbons are mailed to the top three finishers by gender in each age group.
Bibs are mailed about a week before the race; participants who do not receive a bib may pick one up on race morning in the picnic area. Parking at Andrew Molera State Park is limited and there is a park entry fee of ten dollars per car paid in cash. Headphones are not allowed on the course. Dogs are not allowed on Old Coast Road but are permitted on leash in developed park areas. Camping and nearby hotels are available; Monterey and Carmel are the closest towns mentioned.
