Fort Henry 5km Cross Country Race

Fort Henry 5KXC & Kids 1KXC

The Kingston Road Runners Association stages its annual cross country race on Fort Henry Hill, on a well-groomed trail that overlooks Fort Henry, the RMC and the city. The event uses a closed course that is familiar to local clubs and associations.

Distances

• 5KXC: a 2.5 km loop with small rolling hills and mostly grass surface
• Kids 1KXC: a 1 km race for children

The 5KXC course is described as a 2.5 km loop with small rolling hills, primarily on grass. There will not be a water station on the course this year; water bottles and pre-packaged snacks will be handed out at the finish.

Entry fees are listed as 5KXC = $40 and 1KXC = $10. KRRA members receive a $5 discount on the 5KXC with a code. Registration for 2026 has not yet opened and typically opens in late July.

A team competition is included for the 5KXC with two divisions: Youth (19 and under) and Open. Each team must consist of two male runners and two female runners. Youth teams require all runners to be under 19 as of January 1, 2026. Team scoring is by placing with the lowest total winning; ties are broken by the 4th runner. If a team member does not finish, the team is disqualified. Medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each division.

Awards and swag include branded beer glasses for the first 100 5KXC registrants, medals for the top three overall men and women, medals for top three in each age category, medals for the top three boys and girls in the Kids 1KXC, ribbons for all 1KXC finishers, a Middle-of-the-Pace Prize, and draw prizes distributed during the awards ceremony; winners must be present to claim draw prizes.
