Forbidden Run Fest
Forbidden Run Fest is a trail and gravel running event held in Wissahickon Valley Park with headquarters at Houston Recreational Center in Philadelphia. The course stays inside the park and combines smooth wide gravel sections with shorter stretches of single track and rocky uphill segments.
Distances offered:
- 10 KM
- 10 Miler
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
Course details vary by distance. Common features include a mostly smooth compacted dirt start, extended sections on Forbidden Drive (wide gravel), and a final rocky quarter mile climb called Mount "What the heck." The half marathon includes about five miles of technical single track and eight miles of gravel. Aid stations supply water, Gatorade, and snacks and are spaced approximately 2 to 3 miles apart. Specific water stop counts: 10 KM one stop, 10 Miler three stops, Half Marathon four stops.
Timing is chip based and results are published live and on UltraSignup. Awards are given to the top three overall finishers and top three in standard age groups. Participant field is limited to 750. Bibs must remain visible to protect the timing chip, and entrants must complete the distance registered. A post-race gathering offers live music, warm food including fresh pizza and seasonal treats, and soft race sweatshirts for participants. Refunds are available up to 30 days before the race minus a $10 fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
