Foothills 10 Mile Run
The Foothills 10 Mile Run is a trail event in Albuquerque held at Elena Gallegos Open Space and routes into Cibola National Forest and the Sandia Mountain Foothills. The course begins near 6,500 feet elevation and features single track sections and uneven trail surfaces with over 900 feet of elevation gain. Medical staff and radio communications personnel are available on course, and a water station provides water and ice.

The event uses chip timing with bibs that include B Tag timing chips and provides live results. Participants receive long sleeve technical race shirts and free professional race photos from Lobo Photo New Mexico. Post race provisions include New Mexico breakfast burritos, locally brewed root beer, coffee, donuts, and other refreshments. Prize money is awarded to the top five male and female finishers in the 10 mile event and first place age group prize money is offered; age group place one through three receive medals. USATF members who podium in the 10 mile event receive additional bonus prize money from USATF.
A separate 10 week training program led by an RRCA certified coach is offered beginning August 29, 2026, with three runs per week, a shoe clinic, a race entry discount, and a program fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
