FLATS Trail Half Marathon - Kirksville, Missouri

The FLATS Trail Half Marathon takes place on October 3, 2026 in Kirksville, Missouri. The event is a forested, point to point half marathon run largely on single track with rocks, roots, water crossings, and rolling terrain. The course includes scenic lake views and a mix of natural trail features that require attentive running.

There are seven aid stations located at approximately mile 1.5, 3.2, 5.2, 7.9, 9.85, 11.3, and 12.5. Aid stations provide water, sports drink, snacks, and gels. The finish area supplies water, sports drink, soft drinks, pizza, and other snacks. Runners are encouraged to carry calories or a hydration system; bottles can be refilled at each stop.

Logistics include race-day packet pickup at the Marina and a pre-race packet pickup the day before at the ATSU Thompson Campus Center. Because the course is point to point, a shuttle will transport runners from the finish at Jackson Stables to the start at Thousand Hills State Park Marina. The organizer will transport one gear bag per runner from start to finish.

This event is a fundraiser for the Forest Lake Area Trail System. Prize money is awarded to top finishers in each gender category and age group pint glasses are given to the top three in each age group. The race offers nonbinary registration, equal podiums and prize money, a pregnancy and postpartum deferral option, and participation in the Trail Mix Fund and Trail Sisters standards to increase accessibility.
