FLATS Trail Half Marathon

The FLATS Trail Half Marathon takes place in Kirksville, Missouri on October 3, 2026. The race is a point-to-point trail half marathon that uses the Forest Lake Area Trail System and includes a short initial road section to spread out runners.

The course is primarily single-track with roots, rocks, hills, and water crossings alongside the lake. There are seven aid stations on course at roughly mile 1.5, 3.2, 5.2, 7.9, 9.85, 11.3, and 12.5 where water, sports drink, snacks, and gels are provided. Runners are encouraged to carry additional calories or a hydration system for refills. The finish area supplies water, sports drink, soft drinks, pizza, and snacks.

Awards include cash prizes for overall first through third finishers in female, male, and nonbinary categories and commemorative pint glasses for the top three in each age group. Age groups are 19 and under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 and over.

Logistics note packet pickup is available Friday, October 2 at the ATSU Thompson Campus Center between Noon and 7:00 p.m. and again race morning at the marina. A shuttle runs from the finish at Jackson Stables to the start at Thousand Hills State Park Marina. A single gear bag per runner will be transported from start to finish.
