Firefly Six Hour Night Trail Race
The Firefly is a six hour timed night trail event at Franke Park in Fort Wayne, IN. Participants complete as many full laps as they can on the park trail network within the six hour limit. The trail route includes paved path, gravel surfaces and single track dirt trail.
Each lap starts and finishes at the HUB, a multi use facility located between the gravel parking lot and Derby Hill. The HUB has picnic tables and shade triangles and will be lit after sunset. Only full loops are counted toward a participant's mileage total. Lap counts will be posted on a large whiteboard on race day and will also be recorded electronically.
There are three event categories listed: a running event of 26.2 miles, a mountain bike event, and a wheelchair event. Wheelchair athletes follow a course composed of paved path and gravel road.
There is no aid station on the course; participants are expected to keep their own food and drinks at the HUB. Sharing snacks at the HUB is encouraged. Recommended gear includes a headlamp or flashlight, folding chair, insect repellent, sunscreen, snacks, water and a hydration mix.
The mountain bike event requires at least 20 registered riders by August 15, 2026 for that race to proceed; if the minimum is not met by that date the mountain bike event will be canceled and registered riders will receive refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
