The Fall Backyard Burn at Hemlock Overlook is a trail running event on Sunday, November 16, 2025, in Clifton, VA (Hemlock Overlook Regional Park). It is part of the Fall Backyard Burn series produced by EX2 Adventures. The event lists Homestretch as its charity partner. Two distance options are offered:

  • 5.2 miles (one lap) - 600 ft elevation gain
  • 9.5 miles (two laps) - 1,200 ft elevation gain

Course, services and rules

The course runs along the banks of Bull Run and uses hiking trails, old dirt roads, and open fields, including sections of the Bull Run Occoquan Trail. The route includes rocks, roots, stream crossings, grassy fields, and minimal pavement. The event provides aid stations, medical support, post-race food, volunteer support, and race swag; finish medals are an optional add-on. A supervised kids program by Little Fern Learning is available with a per-event fee and an option to register for all dates in the series.

Key rules include no in-ear headphones, no pets, pacers, or baby strollers on course, visible race numbers worn on the front, outside assistance allowed only near aid stations, and a requirement to stay on designated trails.
