Eungella Rainforest Run
Event three of five in the off the beaten track Trail Run Series, held on Sunday 31 May 2026 in the Pioneer Valley near Mackay. The run is 100% off-road and passes through Eungella National Park & Crediton Reserves, using trails that are only open once a year.
Distances:
- 5 km: 2.5 km out and back through rainforest, for junior cross country athletes and beginners.
- 11 km: loop starting at Eungella Dam Road, mixed terrain, water and refreshments available.
- 18 km: remote run on backroads, rolling downhills and punchy ups, 590 m of elevation, includes two river crossings at the Diggings.
The course will be marked with tape, signage and marshals, and a safety vehicle with first aid will operate on course. Only one on-course water station will be available and it is limited; competitors are responsible for their own water and nutrition. Mandatory gear for the 11 km and 18 km runners must be carried for the duration and includes two compression bandages, a fully charged phone, a whistle and the timing chip; officials may refuse a start if requirements are not met.
Registration fees start from $25 and include athlete photos and insurance; fees vary by distance and are subject to change. Toilets are not available at the start/finish; the nearest public toilets are at the top of Eungella Range and Broken River Day Use Area.
