Finch Hatton - Flowing Trails
Finch Hatton - Flowing Trails is Event 4 of a five-part off-the-beaten-track trail run series held at the Finch Hatton MTB Trails in Mackay’s Pioneer Valley. The event uses the mountain bike park with access granted for trail running on this day only.
Distances offered
- 6 km
- 12 km
- 18 km
The course is organised as repeated 6 km loops. All runners pass the start/finish line every 6 km, which allows competitors to top up water and nutrition. The route is waymarked with arrows, signage and caution tape. Short, mid and long courses are formed by completing one, two or three loops respectively; descriptions note a mix of fire roads, MTB single track, ascents and faster descents, with some viewpoints across the valley.
Mandatory equipment includes a compression bandage, a fully charged phone, a whistle, the race bib and sufficient water and nutrition. One water station is available at the start/finish location each lap. Marshals are on course and a safety vehicle with first aid support is present.
Facilities at the event head include toilets and showers. Race rules require prior registration, wearing the bib on the front, staying on marked tracks and respecting other trail users. Transfer and refund policies are set by the organiser and entries may carry over if the event is rescheduled. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
