Epic East Gate is a trail running event organized by the Dauphin Rotary Club in cooperation with Parks Canada. It stands as the only ultra and trail event held within the boundaries of Riding Mountain National Park in Manitoba. the race starts at the Historic East Gate, situated 15 minutes away from McCreary.
The event features three specific distances focused on trail running:
- 50 km: A figure-eight course featuring elevation gains exceeding 1000 m.
- 25 km: A single loop course with an elevation gain of more than 500 m.
- 10 km: A route intended as an introduction to trail running.
The courses utilize technical terrain and flowy single-track paths. Runners participating in the 25 km and 50 km distances reach Little Bald Hill, a location providing expansive views of the surrounding landscape. The routes also include the technical descents of Reeves Ravine.
Registration for the event is subject to a specific cancellation policy where no refunds or deferrals are provided. In the event that an in-person gathering is not possible on the scheduled date, the organizers reserve the right to transition the race to a virtual format.
