Epic East Gate
Epic East Gate
The Epic East Gate is organized by the Dauphin Rotary Club in cooperation with Parks Canada. It is the only ultra and trail running event held entirely within the boundaries of Riding Mountain National Park in Manitoba. The race starts at the Historic East Gate, located 15 minutes from McCreary.
The event features three primary distances:
- 10 km: An out and back route along the lower Reeves Ravine.
- 25 km: A single loop course with an elevation gain exceeding 500 m.
- 50 km: A figure-eight course with an elevation gain exceeding 1,000 m.
Participants in the 25 km and 50 km categories navigate flowy single track trails and technical descents through Upper Reeves Ravine. The routes include passage over Little Bald Hill, providing expansive views of the surrounding landscape. The terrain is designed to reflect mountain running characteristics within the Prairie region.
The event is a sanctioned part of the Ultimate Trails of Manitoba series. One hundred percent of the event profits are donated to active living initiatives, continuing a charitable tradition that has raised over $300,000 since 2014. Registration follows a tiered pricing structure and is open to the general public, with an early access window for provincial trail running association members.
