Dunns Ultra Marathon Badasses - D.U.M.B.

D.U.M.B. is a trail ultramarathon at Dunns Creek State Park in Pomona Park, Florida. The race uses an approximately 11.75 mile loop that passes longleaf pines, wiregrass and sandpine scrub and protects several threatened or endangered species such as the gopher tortoise and fox squirrel. The event includes multiple distances and will include a 100 mile distance described as the park's first 100 miler.

The loop features mixed terrain with compact grass, forest service roads, wide runnable sections, some sugar sand areas and gradual inclines and declines. At about the 15k mark runners reach "Mt. Maars" with elevated views. There are two shallow water crossings and two foot bridges that can be used instead. The final 1.5 miles of each loop return on an asphalt road to the runners village.

Two fully stocked on-course aid stations are positioned at roughly the 1.5 and 3.5 mile marks and another at about 8.5 miles. Aid offerings include Skratch Hydration products, pickle juice, hot and savory items such as chorizo and egg burritos, bacon, spam, tortilla roll ups with cold cuts and avocado, and beverages including water, ginger ale and coke. A larger aid and grilling station at runners village will provide hot food and overnight items.

Runners village is a large compact grass parking area adjacent to the start and finish where crews can set up next to vehicles and RVs. Friday night camping at the state park requires a $30 park fee. State park regulations prohibit alcohol on premises; propane heaters are permitted and open flames may be allowed subject to drought conditions. Refunds are not offered, though deferrals may be granted with ample notice for illness or injury. Course cutoffs range from 3 hours for the 8k to 36 hours for the 100 mile and 100k distances.
