Dunns Ultra Marathon Badasses

The Dunns Ultra Marathon Badasses, also known as D.U.M.B., takes place at Dunns Creek State Park in Pomona Park, Florida. This event utilizes a trail system that features diverse terrain, including longleaf pines, wiregrass, and sandpine scrub. The area is home to native wildlife such as gopher tortoises and fox squirrels.

The competition is primarily based on a looped course measuring approximately 11.75 miles. The route consists of compact grass, forest service roads, and some sections of sugar sand. Participants will encounter gradual inclines and declines, reaching the top of Mt. Maars at the 15k mark for views of the surrounding forest. The course features open prairies, canopied forests, two shallow water crossings with optional foot bridges, and a final 1.5 mile segment on an asphalt road leading back to the central hub.

Participants can choose from a variety of distances and formats:

  • 100 Miler
  • 100K (Running and Rucking)
  • 35 Miler (Running and Rucking)
  • 12 Miler (Running and Rucking)
  • 8K (Running and Rucking)

The event includes a Runner's Village located on compact grass at the start and finish line. This area serves as a central hub where participants can park, set up tents or canopies, and utilize RVs. According to state park regulations, alcohol is not permitted on the premises.

Finisher awards vary by distance and include custom belt buckles for the 100 mile distance, mini buckles for the 100k, and medals for other distances. This event serves as a fundraiser for the Sombrero Outreach Foundation and the Friends of Dunns Creek State Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
