  • 10K Ultimate Dragon 10K
  • 5K SA Toughest 5K

Courses and logistics

Courses use natural trails with rocks and hills. Runners are required to carry their own water. Course aid stations provide water and Gatorade and are spaced at about one-mile intervals. Course details from the organizer: the 25K is two loops with 778 feet of climb per loop (about 1,556 feet total); the 10K has about 675 feet of climb; the 5K includes nearly 100 feet of climbing per kilometer and contains three steep climbs. A bag drop is available at the finish line for 25K runners preparing for a second loop.

All races are officially timed by Best Race Timers IAAP. Finishers receive event-specific keepsakes: medals for the 25K and 10K, an artistic finisher tile with easel for the 5K, and a singlet. Age-group awards are given in 10-year increments from 19 and under to 70+. Race rules limit the 25K to a 4:30 hour overall time; runners must reach the finish by 2:15 to continue on the second loop or they may be moved to the 10K or marked DNF.
