Fort Yargo Cannonball Run

The Fort Yargo Cannonball Run is a trail running event held at Fort Yargo State Park in Winder, Georgia. This race is part of the "Off The Grid" Trail Run Series and utilizes Entrance B of the state park. Participants gather at the lower parking lot near the lake and navigation is directed toward the UGA Boat House area.

The event offers two distinct distances for participants:

  • 3.10 miles
  • 8.50 miles

The 3.10 mile course follows a clockwise direction. The terrain is designed to be easy to navigate with a mixture of surfaces and minimal roots or rocks. Runners start on the powerlines before entering the woods, splitting from the longer course at the 0.25 mile mark after crossing a bridge.

The 8.50 mile course runs in a counter-clockwise direction. This route features a combination of smooth, easy trails along with technical sections that include rocks and roots. Similarly, participants start on the powerlines and enter the woods, taking a hard left after the bridge at the 0.25 mile mark.

Awards are presented to the top three finishers in a wide range of age groups, starting from 14 and under up to 80 plus. There are also specific categories for Masters, Grandmasters, and Senior Grandmasters for both male and female runners. Participants receive a tri-blend shirt, though availability is not guaranteed for those who register on the day of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
