Devilla Forest 8 hour Challenge : Event overview

The Devilla Forest 8 hour Challenge is a timed loop event organised by NU Limits Running Ltd. Participants complete as many 4.366 mile trail loops as possible within an eight hour limit. The route is on trail paths around Devilla Forest and includes about 140 ft of ascent per lap; a GPX route file is provided for full details.

Distances recorded by lap count:

  • 3 laps = Half Marathon
  • 6 laps = Full Marathon
  • 7+ laps = Ultra Marathon

Runners wear an electronic wristband timing tag that records the start and finish of each lap. Each wristband registers lap times with the timing system and the final lap count is confirmed when participants check out with the timing partner. The event basecamp serves as registration and kit storage; two 6 x 3 metre gazebos are available and spectators are welcome. NU Limits Ltd does not accept liability for lost kit.

A mandatory kit list specifies minimum fluid and carbohydrate provisions, weather appropriate clothing, dry clothes for after the event, and a mobile phone. Parking arrangements use the Scottish Police College as the primary car park, with named alternative car parks and street parking options listed. Volunteer roles are described and volunteers receive a free entry to a future event as a reward. Refunds and transfer windows are defined in the event policy. The event has 250 total places and is listed as open. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
