Devilla Forest 8-hour Challenge

Event

The Devilla Forest 8-hour Challenge is scheduled for 04 April 2026 and is organised by NU Limits Running Ltd. Participants complete as many laps of a marked trail loop as possible within an eight hour time limit. The event is open with a total of 250 places.

Course, format and logistics

Each lap is 4.366 miles on trail paths around Tentsmuir Forrest with about 140 ft of ascent per lap. An electronic wristband timing system (HuTags on velcro straps) records the start and finish of each lap; runners must check out with the timing partner to finalise lap counts. Basecamp is shown on the event GPX map and offers kit storage under two 6 x 3 meter gazebos; the organiser does not accept liability for lost kit. Spectators are welcome at Basecamp. Primary parking is at the Scottish Police College, with alternative local parking options and contingency arrangements if needed.

3 laps = Half Marathon

6 laps = Full Marathon

7+ laps = Ultra Marathon

Mandatory kit includes sufficient nutrition and hydration (minimum 500 ml fluid per hour and 60–90 g carbohydrates per hour of running), appropriate clothing for weather, dry clothes for after the event, and a mobile phone.

Refunds are available up to two months before the event. Transfers to another event within the same year are allowed up to one month before the event; participant transfers are allowed up to one week before the event.
