Event overview
The Devilla Forest 8-hour Challenge takes place on 04 April 2026 and is organised by NU Limits Running Ltd. Runners complete as many 4.366 mile loops as possible within an overall eight-hour time limit. The route is on trail paths around Tentsmuir Forest and includes about 140 ft of ascent per lap. Logistics and timing
Runners are issued electronic wristbands (HuTags on velcro straps) that record the start and finish of each lap and the total lap count. Runners must check out with the timing partner to finalise finish results and then collect their finisher prize at the NU Limits Basecamp gazebo. Basecamp is marked on the event GPX map, offers kit storage under two 6 x 3 meter gazebos, and welcomes spectators. NU Limits Ltd does not accept liability for lost kit.
Primary parking is at the Scottish Police College. Alternative parking and street parking areas are listed on the event page. Volunteer roles include start/finish line staff, route marshalling, event registration, and car park support. Volunteer time slots can range from five hours to the full event duration; volunteers receive a free entry for a future event.
Mandatory kit and policies
Mandatory items include sufficient nutrition and hydration (minimum 500 ml fluid per hour and 60-90 g carbohydrates per hour), appropriate clothing for weather, dry clothes for after the event, and a mobile phone. Refunds are available up to two months before the event. Event transfers are allowed up to one month before the event; participant transfers are allowed up to one week before the event.
