Devilla Forest 8-hour Challenge

This event challenges participants to complete as many 4.366 mile loops as possible within an eight hour time limit on trail paths around Devilla Forest. Each lap includes about 140 ft of ascent. Full route details and a GPX file are provided for navigation.

Lap totals map to common distances:

  • 3 laps = Half Marathon
  • 6 laps = Full Marathon
  • 7+ laps = Ultra Marathon

Timing is managed with electronic wrist tags worn on the wrist. Tags record the start and finish of each lap and provide a final lap count; runners must avoid covering the tag and should not congregate at the start line after completing a lap to prevent false readings. Final results are confirmed at checkout with the event timing partner and finisher prizes are issued at the event basecamp.

Event basecamp is shown on the GPX map and offers kit storage under participant responsibility. Two 6 x 3 metre gazebos will be available; spectators are permitted at basecamp.

Mandatory kit includes sufficient nutrition and hydration (minimum 500 ml fluid per hour and 60–90 g carbohydrates per running hour), clothing suited to weather, dry clothes for after the event, and a mobile phone.

Volunteer roles are available with tasks such as start/finish, route marshalling, registration and car park support. Volunteers receive a complimentary entry for a future event and are allocated shifts according to availability.

Refunds are available up to two months before the event. Transfers to another event are allowed up to one month before the event; participant transfers are allowed up to one week before the event.

Price listed until 01 Apr 2026 is £44.95. Total places for the event are 250 and the event status is open. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
