Event overview
Devilla Forest 8-hour Challenge is an eight-hour loop event held on 04 April 2026. Runners complete as many 4.366 mile loops as possible within the time limit. The route uses trail paths around Tentsmuir Forrest and includes about 140 ft of ascent per lap. A GPX file for the route is available.
Distances
- 3 laps = Half marathon

Timing and results
Lap counting and split times are recorded by an electronic wristband (HuTag on a velcro strap) at the start/finish line. The timing system registers each lap on the event timing monitor. Runners must check out with the timing partner after finishing to finalise finish time and total laps. Finisher prizes are collected at the event basecamp gazebo.
Facilities and kit
Basecamp is marked on the GPX map and offers two 6 x 3 m gazebos for kit storage; organisers do not accept liability for lost items. Spectators are welcome at basecamp. Mandatory kit includes sufficient nutrition and hydration (minimum 500 ml fluid per hour and 60–90 g carbohydrates per hour of running), appropriate weather clothing, dry clothes for after the event, and a mobile phone.
Parking, volunteers and policies
Primary parking is at the Scottish Police College; organisers may use alternative parking if required and will manage on-site direction. Volunteers receive a free entry to a future event or the same event for helping; roles include start/finish staff, route marshals, registration, and car park support. Refunds are available up to two months before the event. Event transfers are allowed up to one month before; participant transfers up to one week before.
