Event

The Denali135 is an endurance road race held on the Denali Highway in Alaska, running from Paxson to Cantwell. The course follows approximately 131 miles of the historic 135 mile Denali Highway and has an approximate total elevation gain of 8,800 feet. The event is limited to 50 runners in 2026. Registration opens September 19, 2025 and closes May 1, 2026 or when the field fills.

Course and logistics

The route begins near the Gulkana River watershed and passes Tangle Lakes, then continues on chip-sealed and gravel road to Maclaren Summit (4,086 ft, around mile 36.8). Key points on the route include Maclaren River Lodge (mile 42), Alpine Creek Lodge (mile 68), and the Susitna River Bridge (mile 79.5). The road returns to pavement near mile 131.8 for the final stretch into Cantwell. The pre-race briefing is held at Tangle Lake Lodge (mile 20).

Entry, support and awards

Applicants must submit qualifying race results. Qualifying requires at least three ultramarathon finishes of 50 miles or more in the prior three years, including at least one 100 mile race or longer. Each runner must have a mandatory support vehicle/crew; one pacer at a time is permitted. The maximum time to complete the course is 48 hours. Finishers within 48 hours receive a Denali135 belt buckle and finishers shirt; overall male and female winners receive special awards.
