Denali 50K

The Denali 50K is a 50 kilometer endurance race held along the historic Denali Highway in Alaska. The 2026 edition is scheduled for June 21st and the event is limited to 50 runners with their crews and pacers. Registration opens September 19, 2025 and closes May 1, 2026 or when the field fills. Applicants must submit qualifying race information; qualifying criteria include completion of at least three marathons in the previous two years with at least one trail marathon, or other proof of sufficient training acceptable to the Race Director.

The course begins at Maclaren Summit (Mile 37 from Paxson), descends toward the Maclaren River and passes through terrain shaped by glacial features. There is a single aid station at Clearwater Creek (Mile 18 of the 50K course). The finish is at Alpine Creek Lodge. Runners may compete with crew support or without a support crew if they have a prearranged pickup plan; unsupported runners may use drop bags at the Clearwater Creek aid station. A maximum of nine hours is allotted to complete the course.

Race administration notes that there are no registration refunds; deferments may be granted at the discretion of the Race Director. Spirit Trips will donate a portion of registration fees to the Denali Education Center. Mandatory runner equipment includes a buff, sufficient water or a hydration vest, at least 200 calories of on-course energy, and a visible runner bib. Pacers are required to carry similar items and a pacer bib. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
