Death Race

Overview

The Death Race is the 26th annual mountain ultra event held in Grande Cache, Alberta, Canada. The event takes place across August 1–2, 2026, with pre-race activities on July 31. The main venue is listed as 10450 Hoppe Ave, Grande Cache. Multiple race categories are offered, including an ultra, a marathon, a relay, and a kids race.

• 118 km Ultra - point-to-point course that begins and ends on a 4,200-foot plateau.

The ultra course passes over three mountain summits, includes more than 17,000 feet of cumulative elevation change, and features a river crossing at Hell's Gate canyon where the Smoky and Sulphur Rivers meet. Course closures, awards, and a kids race are scheduled during the event weekend. Pre-race activities include racer check-in, a volunteer meeting, and a racer meeting on the day before the event.
