Canadian Death Race - Grande Cache, Alberta
The Canadian Death Race takes place on August 1 and 2, 2026 in Grande Cache, Alberta, with the start and finish on a 4,200-foot plateau. The 118 km route crosses three mountain summits and includes a river crossing at Hell's Gate canyon, where the Smoky and Sulphur Rivers meet. The event is set in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
Offered distances:
- 118 km Ultra with 5,181 m elevation gain (about 17,000 feet)
- 42 km Half Death Marathon with 2,132 m elevation gain (about 6,995 feet)

Official time limits are published: marathon 9.5 hours and ultra 24 hours. The host site is the Community Recreation Centre and Central Park in Grande Cache. Registration is capped at 1,000 entrants; approximately 350 solo spots are reserved until March 15 and the Half Death Marathon is limited to 200 spots. Registration opens October 10 and closes July 18 or when full.
A support crew is not required but is recommended for solo runners. Aid stations are located throughout each stage and supplies vary; runners may not cache gear at aid stations. Support crews and relay teams are not permitted to meet runners at aid stations.
