David Staff Memorial Race
The David Staff Memorial Race is a fell event held on Sunday 15 November 2026 at The Kiosk, Sunnyhurst Woods, Darwen BB3 0LA. It is categorised AS and is run over a course of 6 km with approximately 305 m of ascent. The minimum age for entry is 14 years.
Registration takes place at The Kiosk. Entries are managed online via the SIS Entries system; there are no entries on the day. Entry fees are £7.50 for FRA members and £8.50 for non members. The published start location is on the main path opposite The Kiosk.
The route leaves the woods via the Lychgate carpark next to the Sunnyhurst pub, follows the familiar route up to Darwen Tower and across the moors, and then returns by the same line down into the woods via the pub. The course turns left at the bandstand and the finish is at the traditional point by the bandstand.
The race is held in memory of David Staff and raises funds for Cardiac Risk in the Young. Funds raised are used to support heart screening for young people. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
