David Staff Memorial Race
The David Staff Memorial Race is a fell race held at Sunnyhurst Woods in Darwen, with the event base at The Kiosk (BB3 0LA). The race is run in memory of David Staff and raises funds for Cardiac Risk in the Young to support heart screening for young people.
The course is categorised AS and covers 6 km with approximately 305 m of climb. The route starts on the main path opposite The Kiosk, turns left at the bandstand, leaves the wood via the Lychgate car park next to the Sunnyhurst pub, then follows the familiar route up to Darwen Tower and around the moors. The descent returns by the same route down into the woods via the pub and finishes at the traditional bandstand point.
Entry is by the SIS Entries online system and there are no entries on the day. Entry fees are £7.50 for FRA members and £8.50 for non members. The minimum age for competitors is 14 years.
