DalesRunner 20
DalesRunner 20 is a marked trail race based at Low Fremington Village Hall, Reeth, in the Yorkshire Dales. The route runs on Reeth and Arkengarthdale Moor and is predominantly single track with steep ascents and technical descents, including sections through mining hushes and areas of loose rock. Terrain includes grassy trods and hard-packed footpaths.
The course is waymarked with orange tape, pin flags and coloured arrow signs, and critical turns and road crossings are staffed by marshals. GPX and a PDF map of the route are available. Aid stations provide water, Active Root, sweet and savoury food, a small supply of electrolyte tablets, and offer vegan and gluten free options; plastic cups are not used so runners must carry a soft flask or cup.
Mandatory kit is required and may be checked on the day; failing to carry mandatory items can lead to disqualification. Mandatory items include taped-seam waterproof jacket and trousers, a hat or buff, gloves, an emergency blanket or bivvy bag, a cup or soft flask, and a fully charged mobile phone. Suggested items include a map, compass and whistle.
Facilities include parking in a nearby working field, toilets at the village hall and portable toilets at the start, and post-race hot and cold drinks with cake for finishers. Entry is limited to 200 runners and the event carries an age restriction of 18 and over. Entry fees include a small donation to the local National Park.
