Location and Course

The DalesRunner 20 trail running event takes place near Reeth in North Yorkshire, starting and registering at the Low Fremington Village Hall. The route of 18.3 km (11.4 miles) is considered an introduction to the DalesRunner Series. It is a very hilly course, mostly on single-track trails, featuring a very steep first ascent and technical descents, including one down historic hushes. The route is fully marked with barrier tape, pin flags, and signs.

Kit and Logistics

Participants must carry specific mandatory kit, including taped seam waterproof jacket and trousers, hat or buff, gloves, an emergency blanket or bivvy bag, a cup or soft flask, and a fully charged mobile phone. Kit spot checks may be performed. A trail or fell shoe with good grip is recommended due to the course conditions.

On the Day

On race day, parking is available in a field near Reeth. Post-race, hot drinks and cake or flapjack are provided as part of the entry fee, with extra available for purchase. Take on the Cautley Horseshoe fell race near Sedbergh on 6 May 2026, a short but brutal 7.5 km with 805 m of ascent and spectacular upland views. Entry on the day is £5 and the Cross Keys Inn will be open for post race food and drink.

A senior fell race on 9 May 2026 at Lupton Fields, Sedbergh School, run under Fell Runners Association rules with a fully flagged route and marshals. Entry is for adults aged 18 and over and the entry fee is £2.

A trail race day at Sutton Bank on 10 May 2026 offering Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k courses with downloadable maps, mandatory safety kit and published ascent and time limits; entries are capped and the event operates a no-refund policy.
