Location and Course

The DalesRunner 20 trail running event takes place near Reeth in North Yorkshire, starting and registering at the Low Fremington Village Hall. The route of 18.3 km (11.4 miles) is considered an introduction to the DalesRunner Series. It is a very hilly course, mostly on single-track trails, featuring a very steep first ascent and technical descents, including one down historic hushes. The route is fully marked with barrier tape, pin flags, and signs.

Kit and Logistics

Participants must carry specific mandatory kit, including taped seam waterproof jacket and trousers, hat or buff, gloves, an emergency blanket or bivvy bag, a cup or soft flask, and a fully charged mobile phone. Kit spot checks may be performed. A trail or fell shoe with good grip is recommended due to the course conditions.

On the Day

On race day, parking is available in a field near Reeth. Post-race, hot drinks and cake or flapjack are provided as part of the entry fee, with extra available for purchase. Take on the New Embsay Fell Race on Sat 11 Jul: a punchy 2.5 mile course with 195 m of climb through the Yorks Dales. Part of the village fete, enjoy entertainment and refreshments and easy on the day entry for a fun community challenge.

A point to point challenge of just over 40 miles across the classic Lyke Wake route from near Osmotherley to Ravenscar, run on a handicap basis with seven checkpoints, mandatory kit and a twelve hour overall time limit.

The The Sting Backyard Ultra will take place in Richmond (North Yorkshire) on Saturday 11 July 2026. You can run between 4 and 7 kilometers.

Experience a summer evening fell race in Weardale featuring a 7 km out and back route. Runners will tackle 400 meters of ascent to reach the 700 meter summit of Chapelfell Top before a fast descent to St John's Chapel.
