Coyote Ugly 30k & 50k

The Coyote Ugly 30k and 50k is a trail race in the Cohutta Wilderness that takes place on March 6, 2027. The event uses Mulberry Gap Adventure Basecamp in Ellijay, GA as the start and finish location and is organized by Coyote Ugly Racing.

Distances:

  • 30K approximately 19 miles, about 2900 ft of climbing.
  • 50K approximately 30 miles, about 4400 ft of climbing.

Both routes begin with nearly two miles of gravel road, then a four-mile climb on Pinhoti 2 to a gravel forest service road and the first aid station. After a short gravel section runners climb Pinhoti 1 for almost four miles to the Bear Creek trail. A 0.2 mile out-and-back reaches an aid stop, then a climb to the top with several creek crossings before the two distances split. The 30K returns to Mulberry Gap via gravel, passing Bear Creek overlook and Barnes Creek Falls. The 50K follows additional Bear Creek trail loops and revisits aid stations before climbing back toward Pinhoti 2 and the finish.

Aid stations provide typical ultramarathon fare such as water, electrolytes, snacks, grilled cheese or quesadillas at the top of Bear Creek, and a variety of sweet and salty items. Cutoffs are set at 7 hours for the 30K and 10 hours for the 50K; each aid station enforces hard cutoffs. Volunteers receive future race entry and event swag. Refund and deferral policies include full refunds up to one month before the event and a two-year pregnancy deferral; after 30 days a half credit toward a future race may be issued.
