Coyote Ugly 30K & 50K

This trail race takes place in the Cohutta Wilderness. It starts and finishes at Mulberry Gap Adventure Basecamp in Ellijay, Georgia. The route for both distances begins with nearly 2 miles on a gravel road, followed by a 4-mile climb up Pinhoti 2 to a forest service road and the first aid station.

After less than a mile on gravel, runners climb again on Pinhoti 1 for almost 4 miles to the Bear Creek trail section. A short out-and-back leads to the next aid stop before a climb to the top of Bear Creek, crossing several creeks.

At the top, an aid station marks where the two distances split.

  • 30K runners descend gravel back to Mulberry Gap, passing Bear Creek overlook and Barnes Creek Falls. The total distance is approximately 19 miles with 2,900 feet of climbing.
  • 50K runners descend gravel for 0.5 miles before returning to the Bear Creek trail. They loop around the back side on rolling double track, return through the trailhead aid station, then go back up Pinhoti 1. They follow a forest service road back to Pinhoti 2, through the last aid stop, and return to Mulberry Gap. The total distance is 30 miles with 4,400 feet of climbing.

The race has a 10-hour cutoff for the 50K and a 7-hour cutoff for the 30K. Aid stations will provide water, electrolytes, chips, candy, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, grilled cheese or quesadillas, avocado tortillas, soda, ginger ale, and pickles.

Registration can be refunded up to one month before the event. Deferrals and partial credits to future races are offered under specific conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
