The event is limited to 150 total runners. The 100-mile race is initially capped at 50 entries to allow space for up to 100 200-mile entries. A waitlist and a defined sellout procedure give priority to 200-mile waitlisted runners. Registration closes on Mon, Sep 14 at 11:59 PM CT.
Course, aid and logistics
The route follows the Cowboy Trail, a rails-to-trails corridor made of crushed limestone. The trail is described as non-technical, 100% runnable and largely flat, with short paved sections through towns. The trail includes more than 200 former railway bridges; the largest bridge is about 1/4 mile long and 148 feet high. The exact route may change due to trail closures or maintenance.
There are 10 manned aid stations (most offering at least one hot food item) and nine unmanned water-only stations. There are three sleep stations. Crewing is not allowed at unmanned aid stations. Pacers are permitted for both distances but may only join at full/manned, crew-accessible aid stations and must carry required gear. A shuttle is provided for non-crewed runners; shuttle tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Cutoffs: 200-mile solo - 84 hours; 100-mile solo - 32 hours. First-place male and female 200-mile winners receive $1,500 each, with an additional $500 for new course records. The 200-mile finisher receives event-specific buckles and specified race apparel; the 100-mile finisher receives a buckle and apparel. No refunds; deferral credits available by published deadlines.
