Cowboy 100 - Valentine, NE

Cowboy 100 is a point to point 100 mile trail race organized by Ultraverse Supplements. The route runs from Valentine to Atkinson along the Cowboy Trail, a crushed limestone rail-trail that is off-limits to automobiles. The course is described as non-technical, fully runnable, and largely flat.

The 2027 edition separates the 100 mile from the Cowboy 200 and limits each race to 150 runners. The 100 mile will run the second half of the former combined route in reverse, and the event will introduce a new finisher buckle design for the 100 mile race. Because the course is technically new, course records from the original Cowboy 100 will not transfer.

Planned aid stations for the 100 milers include Arabia, Wood Lake, Johnstown, Ainsworth, Long Pine, Bassett, and Stuart, reducing the average distance between aid to about 14 miles. Additional event features include live GPS tracking by Legends Tracking USA, a shuttle for uncrewed runners, and a 34 hour cutoff. The exact route may change due to trail closures or maintenance.

Entry terms state no refunds and no bib transfers. Entries may be deferred for race credit according to a sliding scale: 100 percent if deferred at least three months before the race, 75 percent at least two months, and 50 percent at least one month. No deferrals are allowed after March 17. Registration closes March 22 at 11:59 PM CT. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
