Cowboy 100 - April 17, 2027

The Cowboy 100 is a point-to-point, 100-mile trail race in Nebraska that runs from Valentine to Atkinson along the Cowboy Trail, a crushed limestone rail-trail closed to automobiles. The course is non-technical, described as 100% runnable and extraordinarily flat. The exact route may change with trail closures or maintenance.

The event is capped at 150 runners. For 2027 the 100-mile race is held separately from the Cowboy 200; this change includes a new finisher buckle design for the 100-mile distance and means course records from the original Cowboy 100 will not transfer. The race route runs the second half of the 200 in reverse so runners traverse the big bridge near sunup.

Organizers plan more frequent full aid relative to the combined event, with aid stations planned at Arabia, Wood Lake, Johnstown, Ainsworth, Long Pine, Bassett, and Stuart, reducing the average distance between aid to about 14 miles. Live GPS tracking will be provided by Legends Tracking USA. The event is non-repetitive and point to point. A shuttle will be available for uncrewed runners and additional runner information will be provided in the runner manual and aid station documents.

Policies and timing: there is a generous 34 hour cutoff. There are no refunds and no bib transfers. Entry deferral credit is allowed at varying percentages depending on how far in advance the deferral is requested; no deferrals are accepted after March 17. Registration closes March 22 at 11:59 PM CT. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
