Cook Forest 25K Trail Challenge
The Cook Forest 25K Trail Challenge takes place on August 15, 2026 in Cooksburg, Pennsylvania, inside Cook Forest State Park. The event is a 25K trail race with a looped route that connects 13 trails and covers more than 17 miles of varied terrain.
Start/finish and packet pickup are located at Shelter 2, 2604 Forest Rd., Vowinckel, PA 16233 (GPS 41.34609 N, 79.21845 W). Packet pickup and day of registration are available at Shelter 2 from 7:45 to 8:45 the morning of the race. Registration is handled through UltraSignup and closes August 8 at 11:59 PM ET.
The course begins with a steep climb on Seneca Trail to the Cook Forest Fire Tower, then descends toward long stretches of trail alongside the Clarion River. Sections on Tom's Run offer shaded, cooler trail running through stands of tall evergreen trees and areas of old growth forest.
There are three aid stations at approximately mile 5, mile 10 and mile 15. Aid stations provide water, Tailwind hydration drink and standard snacks. Runners are advised to carry additional fluids for warmer conditions. Lodging options in the area include cabins, campsites and local inns.
