Conquer the Wall is an endurance event held on the campus and flood wall path of Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College in Williamson, WV. The course is a flat, paved loop of 2.05 miles along the West Williamson flood wall. The event is presented as two timed formats of different durations, including team relay options and individual entries. Teams may consist of two or three members and exchange an ankle bracelet timing tag between teammates to record laps.
Participants wear an ankle bracelet timing device on the right leg at all times for lap counting. When a participant crosses the timing mat at 50 miles they may reverse direction on the loop. A rucking category is offered; participants may carry a rucksack weighed at 25 pounds and will be weighed before the event, periodically during the event, and after completion.
Lodging options include limited indoor cots at the college and outdoor camping near the course. Volunteer roles are available in setup, registration, aid station support, and course presence; volunteers receive a long sleeve shirt and work in shifts.
Aid and facilities include a main aid station at the start and finish, water, sports drinks, pickle juice, Pedialyte, assorted food and hot meals, porta potties, on-site Wi Fi, and common phone carriers.
