Conquer the Wall Endurance Challenge
Conquer the Wall is an endurance event held on the campus of Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College in Williamson, WV. The course is a flat, paved 2.05 mile loop along the West Williamson flood wall and the college grounds. The event offers 47 hour and 35 hour formats with individual solo entries and teams of two or three. Relay teams exchange an ankle bracelet timing tag between teammates to combine laps.
A ruck division is available; rucks should weigh 25 lbs and will be checked before the race, periodically during the event, and after completion. When a participant reaches 50 miles and crosses the timing mat, they may reverse direction on the loop. The race uses ankle bracelet timing devices worn on the right leg and laps are counted when crossing the timing mat. Organizers note GPS devices can show small discrepancies over many laps.
Event capacity is limited to 250 participants. Food and hydration are provided on site, including water, sports drinks, pickle juice, and a range of meal options plus vegan choices. Lodging options include limited indoor cots for up to 30 people, outdoor camping near the course, and short term room reservations with stated rates for one to three day stays. Portaloos, on site Wi Fi, and parking on campus are available. No alcohol is permitted on campus. Volunteers work in shifts and receive a long sleeve volunteer shirt.
