Black Gold 24 hour and 12 hour Endurance Challenge

The Black Gold event is an endurance running meeting held at Belfry High School in Belfry, KY. It offers both individual and relay formats over 24 hour and 12 hour durations, plus a rucksack division in which participants carry a weighted pack.

The course is a one mile loop that begins and ends on the school track and runs around the school parking lot. The route is generally flat with some downhills and an optional reverse direction that adds two hills. The course is open to traffic and is not certified.

Timing is by chip and timing mats with ankle bracelet tags used for relay tracking; laps are recorded when a participant crosses the timing mat. A halfway timing mat is also used. Porta potties will be placed along the course and near the start and finish area. Parking is available in the lot next to the track.

Food and hydration are provided by community donations and local restaurants and include grab and go snacks, soups, sandwiches, grilled items, water, soda, Gatorade, pickle juice and coffee. Indoor lodging in the soccer locker room with showers is available and outdoor camping on campus is permitted.

Awards include top male and female in 24 hour and 12 hour divisions, rucksack honors, team awards and belt buckles and keepsakes for specific mileage achievements.
