Event Details

Conquer The Summit is a community running event held every March in Mt Barker, located in the Adelaide Hills. The first event was held in 2012. The event raises funds for Operation Flinders and other local youth charities and is a major fundraiser for the Mt Barker Lions and Rotary Clubs.

Distances

The event offers several distance options:

  • A half-marathon (21.1 km)
  • A quarter-marathon (10.55 km)
  • A 5 kilometre option
  • A fun, untimed Kids' Dash for participants under 12 years old

Course

The event starts at the Summit Sport and Recreation Park. The route goes through the surrounding rural area, using a combination of roadside, fire track, vineyard, and trail paths to reach the top of Mt Barker Summit.

Registration and Bib Collection

Early bird registrations open on 1 November 2025. Online registrations close at midnight on Sunday, 15 March 2026. Registration by 1 March 2026 allows for a personalized race bib, and registration by 31 December 2025 enters participants into a prize draw.

Bib collection and late registration are available at several locations in the days before the event, including at Beyond Bank branches in Hendon and Mt Barker, and at The Athlete's Foot in Mt Barker. Trail runs nearby

A trail ultra from the Adelaide Hills into the CBD, offering distances from 21 km to 100 miles. Courses follow the Heysen Trail, use mandatory GPX navigation and include multiple aid stations with drop bag and pacer options for longer dista..

Trail races at Sturt Gorge Recreation Park feature winding single-track, creek crossings and varied terrain through woodland and hills. Distances include 21 km, 15 km, 9 km and a short kids cross country run.

Trail runs through Monarto Safari Park and the Lavender Federation Trail to finish at Murray Bridge, with multiple distances and a four-person relay option.

Trail Running SA stages a multi-distance trail event at Cleland National Park with hilly native trails, wildlife viewing, drink stations and post-race refreshments. A kids cross-country and medals for placegetters are included.
