Community Canal Run

Community Canal Run

Channel Events, in partnership with Taunton Running Club, is presenting the Community Canal Run. The event is free to take part in, but registration is required so organisers know how many to expect and to ensure participants are insured.

The main route follows the tow path alongside the canal and the River Tone, starting at the YMCA in Bridgwater and finishing at COACH in French Weir Park, Taunton. A shorter route starts at Maunsel Lock. Participants on the shorter route may choose to run, jeff or walk.

Available distances:

  • 14 miles: off-road tow path Bridgwater to COACH, French Weir Park
  • 7.5 miles: start Maunsel Lock; run, jeff or walk

The run will be a community event that is not timed and where medals will not be given. Organisers will not provide aid stations. There are three cafes on the route: Purple Spoon at the YMCA, Maunsel Lock Tea Rooms, and The Weir at COACH.

The Canal and River Trust gave permission for the event and waived the licence fee. Donations to the Canal and River Trust are possible. Apex Medical and Rescue has donated medical cover for the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
