Community Canal Run

Channel Events, in partnership with Taunton Running Club, is organising a free community run along the canal between Bridgwater and Taunton. The main route follows the tow path alongside the canal and River Tone for 14 miles, all off road, starting at the YMCA in Bridgwater and finishing at COACH in French Weir Park, Taunton. A shorter route of 7.5 miles starts at Maunsel Lock; participants may run, jeff or walk this distance.

  • 14 miles - off-road tow path from YMCA Bridgwater to COACH French Weir Park
  • 7.5 miles - start at Maunsel Lock; option to run, jeff or walk

Participation is free but registration is required so organisers know how many to expect and to ensure insurance cover. The event is a community activity; it will not be timed and no medals will be awarded. Organisers will not provide dedicated aid stations; participants are encouraged to purchase from the three cafes on the route: Purple Spoon at the YMCA, Maunsel Lock Tea Rooms and The Weir at COACH.

The Canal and River Trust granted permission and waived the licence fee for the event; donations to the Trust are welcomed. Apex Medical and Rescue will provide medical cover on the day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
