Community Canal Run

Bridgwater, United Kingdom • 28 Dec 2026

Community Canal Run

Channel Events, in partnership with Taunton Running Club, stages a free community run along the tow path that follows the canal and the River Tone between Bridgwater and Taunton. The route is off road and finishes at COACH in French Weir Park, Taunton. The longer route follows the tow path for 14 miles and a shorter option of 7.5 miles starts from Maunsel Lock.

Event features include:

  • 14 miles
  • 7.5 miles

Although there is no entry fee, registration is required to confirm numbers and to ensure participants are insured. The event is presented as a non-competitive community outing: it will not be timed and no medals will be awarded. There are no event aid stations; participants are encouraged to use the three cafes on the route: Purple Spoon at the YMCA, Maunsel Lock Tea Rooms, and The Weir at COACH.

The Canal and River Trust granted permission and waived the licence fee for this event, and donations to the Trust are invited with all funds going directly to that charity. Apex Medical and Rescue have donated medical cover for the event. Entrants must be aged eight or over on the date of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
