Event Overview
The Colby Mountain Trailfest is a trail running event held in Butte Meadows, California. This inaugural celebration is organized by the Butte County Sheriff Search and Rescue, Chico Velo TrailWorks, and the Bidwell Run Club. Course Information
The event features three distinct distances, each offering a different mix of surfaces:
- 5k: Approximately 3.1 miles with 100 feet of climbing. The course consists of 90% fire road and 10% single track.
- 12k: Approximately 7.5 miles with 700 feet of climbing. The route uses 60% fire road and 40% single track.
- 24k: Approximately 15.5 miles with 1900 feet of climbing. This distance follows 25% fire road and 75% single track.
Aid stations are located at various intervals along the routes, including points at mile 1.3, mile 4, and mile 8.7, providing electrolytes and snacks.
Participant Amenities and Logistics
Registered runners receive a T-shirt, a medal, and a HydraPak reusable cup. Awards are presented to the top three men and women overall, as well as the top three finishers in designated age groups. A post-race party is held following the competition.
Accommodation options in Butte Meadows include cabins, RV hookups, and first-come, first-serve campgrounds such as Butte Meadows Campground and Cherry Hill Campground.
