Cloudland Canyon Trail Races

The event is a set of trail races held in early December at Cloudland Canyon State Park in Rising Fawn, Georgia. All races use trails inside the park and include significant elevation changes and canyon scenery.

Distances offered:

  • 50 mile
  • 50K
  • 25K
  • 5 mile

Course format and terrain are described as combinations of loops and lollipop routes. The 50K is a single 14 loop plus a lollipop; the 50 mile follows the 50K course with an additional lollipop. The 25K and the 5 mile are lollipop routes. Terrain includes rolling hills, several climbs of about 200 to 500 ft, a descent to the bottom of the canyon and a return climb, and multiple viewpoints and waterfalls. Expected elevation gain is approximately 7500 ft for the 50 mile, 4500 ft for the 50K, 2900 ft for the 25K, and about 500 ft for the 5 mile.

Cutoff times are provided for each race: 50 mile 15.5 hours, 50K 11 hours, 25K 5.5 hours, and 5 mile 1.5 hours. The 5 mile route is described as hiker friendly; other distances will likely require running at times to meet cutoffs.

All registered runners receive a pint glass and a beanie or hat. The 50 mile, 50K and 25K include a finisher medal. To guarantee swag and medals, registration must be completed by November 1. The refund policy offers a 50 percent credit toward another Run Bum race outside 90 days prior to the event minus fees; within 90 days there are no refunds, transfers or deferments.
