Chattanooga Mountains Stage Race

The Chattanooga Mountains Stage Race is a three day trail running event in the mountains around Chattanooga, Tennessee. The stages total 60 miles and use a mix of loop and point to point trail terrain.

  • 22 miles on Lula Lake at Lookout Mountain
  • 18 miles on a point to point section of the Cumberland Trail along North Chattanooga Creek
  • 20 miles on a loop on Signal Mountain

Cut off times are strict: 20 mile stage - 5.5 hours, 18 mile stage - 5 hours, 22 mile stage - 6 hours. Participants should be able to comfortably hold a 15 minute per mile pace for 20 miles on moderately difficult trails.

Evening gatherings are held each night at the Crash Pad and beer is provided by Oddstory Brewing Company.

Race proceeds benefit Wild Trails, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the use, protection and expansion of nature trails in the greater Chattanooga area. Wild Trails membership at any level provides a 10 percent discount on races; the Trail Steward level grants free entry to any three races except the Upchuck 50K. A Last Man Standing race in Chattanooga on a 4.3 mile loop where runners must finish each circuit within an hour; laps repeat until only one runner remains, with short recovery time between laps.

A low cost, no awards trail run and hike at Lula Lake Land Trust in Chattanooga with 5K and 15K routes. The 15K includes a rope section and a descent to Lula Falls, with proceeds supporting the land trust.

A 314-mile self-reliant road race from a Mississippi River ferry to the Rock on Sand Mountain, run along highways and backroads with no aid stations and required twice-daily check-ins.

Trail races at Enterprise South Nature Park near Chattanooga use wide, soft pedestrian trails for the 10K and the first section of the half marathon. Proceeds support Wild Trails, a nonprofit for local trail stewardship.
