Course and logistics
Most of the courses run on moderately technical dirt trails and non-technical fire roads, with some paved sections. Hills can be long; hiking or trekking poles are permitted. Courses are marked with colored surveyor ribbon placed about every 200 meters; blue ribbons indicate wrong-way trails. All races are chip timed and disposable timing chips are attached to the back of race bibs.
Aid stations provide a variety of foods and fluids (energy gels, stroopwafels, trail mix, PB&J, Skratch Labs hydration, Coke, water, fruit, and more). This is a cupless event; runners must carry their own bottle or reusable cup. Awards include overall trophies, age-group medals, finisher medals, and a pint glass for all 50K finishers. Volunteers receive a race T-shirt, food, and credit toward future events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
