Caveman Challenge at Waterloo Lake

The Caveman Challenge at Waterloo Lake takes place on October 10, 2026, at Waterloo Lake Park, 1101 S. Waterloo Lake Dr., Denison, TX 75020. The event offers multiple distance options on looped courses.

Distances:

  • 5k
  • 10k
  • Half Marathon
  • Marathon
  • 50k

Course format is loop based. The 5k and 10k use single loops. The half marathon is two laps of the 5k loop, the marathon is three laps, and the 50k combines three laps plus the 10k loop. Two aid stations support participants: a pavilion station at the start/finish area and a roadside station about four miles into the loop. Ten kilometer runners encounter the roadside station twice; other distances pass it three times. Aid station provisions include water, electrolyte replacement, fruit, sweet and salty snacks, and peanut butter and jelly.

Packet pickup is scheduled the day before in the parking lot and there is pre-race pickup on race day morning. Registration and refund policy provides race credit rather than refunds: cancel more than 30 days before the event for 100 percent credit for next year, between 30 days and two weeks for 50 percent credit; no refunds or transfers within two weeks. Credits must be used within one year with possible extensions for medical reasons or military deployments.

Shirts are guaranteed for runners registered at least two weeks prior. Every finisher receives a medal and there are overall first place awards for male and female finishers at each distance. Limited parking is available in two lots and street parking is permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
