Canyons Endurance Runs by UTMB - Auburn, California
The Canyons Endurance Runs by UTMB take place in Auburn, California, in the northern foothills of the Sierra Nevada. The event comprises several trail race distances that follow sections of the Western States Trail and finish in downtown Auburn.
Available distances include:
- 100M (161 km) 5550 m+ elevation
- 100K (100 km) 3750 m+ elevation
- 50K (50 km) 1700 m+ elevation
- 25K (25 km) 850 m+ elevation
The races serve as a dual qualifier for the UTMB World Series Finals and the Western States Endurance Run. The Canyons 100K is a Western States 100 Super Golden Ticket race; the top three female and male finishers in that distance earn direct entry to the Western States Endurance Run.
Course sections run along parts of the iconic Western States Trail, including the river crossing at Rucky Chucky and features referred to as Devil's Thumb and Swinging Bridge. The route crosses river and canyon terrain and includes substantial elevation gain on several distances.
UTMB Community Bibs are offered for the event as part of a charitable program connected to the IRONMAN Foundation. Half of the Community Bib registration costs are allocated to a local charity chosen by the race team. Since 2003, IRONMAN and the IRONMAN Foundation report over $60 million provided to nonprofit initiatives. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
