Canyon de Chelly Ultra

The Canyon de Chelly Ultra is a 55K trail event on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona. The course starts at the entrance to the canyon and follows 17 miles up Canyon de Chelly to Spider Rock, passing ancient ruins, petroglyphs and pictographs. Runners then follow Bat Canyon Trail, climbing about 1,200 feet from the canyon floor to the Spider Rock overlook turnaround, and return along the same route.

Terrain includes sand, single track, creek crossings and other natural obstacles. The first and last 2.5 miles are sandy and can produce an effect similar to major climbs. On the return, many viewpoints present the canyon from different perspectives than those seen on the way out.

Lottery registration opens February 1, 2026 and closes February 7, 2026. The lottery drawing is scheduled for February 8, 2026 and will be held live on the event Facebook page.
