Canyon De Chelly Ultra
The Canyon De Chelly Ultra is a 55K trail race on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona, scheduled for October 10, 2026. The course begins at the entrance to Canyon De Chelly and follows a 17-mile route up the canyon to Spider Rock, then continues on Bat Canyon Trail to a turnaround at the Spider Rock overlook before returning the same way.
The route passes ancient ruins, petroglyphs and pictographs. Runners encounter varied terrain including sand, single track, creek crossings and other natural obstacles. The first and last 2.5 miles are in sand and are described as having the same effect as significant vertical climbs. The Bat Canyon Trail section includes a climb of about 1,200 feet from the canyon floor to the Spider Rock overlook.
Entry used a lottery process that opened February 1 and closed February 7, with the drawing held live on Facebook on February 8 at noon; the order of registration did not affect the waitlist. General registration closed on September 30 at 11:59 PM Mountain Time. An entry offer was listed at USD 223.84 and availability was shown as sold out. A waitlist was maintained for the event.
