Caney Fork Ultra
Caney Fork Ultra is a trail event through the Caney Fork and Scotts Gulf region of Middle Tennessee. The courses pass through sandstone and limestone bluffs, sinkholes, caves, springs, waterfalls, high overlooks and deep river gorges, offering extended sections of remote backcountry and technical trail.
Start and finish are at Camp Latimer on the Cumberland Plateau in Spencer, Tennessee. Camp Latimer provides tent platforms with cots, climate controlled cabins, showers, restrooms and shared gathering spaces on a 1,550 acre site. Lodging options are offered as add ons during race registration and a weekend format is organized with arrivals and gatherings before and after race day.
The event features multiple distance options:
- 50 Mile
- 25K Run
- 25K Ruck
The 50 Mile replaces the former 50K and is described as a long, technical course with sustained climbs, descents and remote sections suited to experienced trail and ultra runners. The 25K covers similar terrain in a shorter distance and includes meaningful elevation change and backcountry trail features.
A rucking division is offered. Weight requirements are 20 pounds dry for participants over 150 pounds and 10 pounds dry for participants under 150 pounds. Weigh ins occur before the race and participants must carry clearly stamped weight that cannot be removed during the event. Random checks may occur on course.
