Caney Fork Ultra : Middle Tennessee backcountry

Caney Fork Ultra runs through the Caney Fork and Scotts Gulf region of Middle Tennessee and starts and finishes at Camp Latimer on the Cumberland Plateau. The courses pass towering sandstone and limestone bluffs, sinkholes, caves, springs, waterfalls, high overlooks, deep river gorges, and shaded hollows carved by centuries of flowing water.

Distances

  • 50 MILE
  • 25K Run
  • 25K Ruck

The 50 MILE is presented as the featured distance for this year and replaces the former 50K. It is intended for experienced trail and ultra runners and includes long sections of technical trail, sustained climbs and descents, and remote segments. The 25K covers the same rugged terrain over a shorter distance and includes meaningful elevation change and backcountry trail conditions.

Camp Latimer functions as a central hub for the weekend. The reservation provides tent platforms with cots, climate-controlled cabins, showers, restrooms, and shared gathering spaces. Participants may arrive the day before to use on-site lodging and attend a pre-race dinner and course briefing. Race-day packet pickup is available for those who cannot pick up beforehand.

Additional details on aid stations, crew access, drop bags, and final course information will be distributed to entrants before the event. Refunds are allowed up to about one month before the race; refunds are not allowed after that point.

Rucking division rules require a weighted pack. Required weights depend on participant body weight, and weigh-ins occur before the race. Weights must remain on course and are subject to checks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
