Camp Woodsmoke Roar & Explore 5K
The Camp Woodsmoke Roar & Explore 5K is a community sports event held in Greensburg, Indiana. The event takes place on the grounds of Camp Woodsmoke, a 264-acre property characterized by woods and rolling hills. The proceeds from the event benefit the Lions Camp Project District 25-F, Inc., which supports individuals with special needs.
Participants can choose from several event categories:
- 5K Run/Walk/Ruck
- 400m Kids Dash
- 400m Wheelchair Dash
- 400m All Abilities Dash
The 5K course utilizes the camp's internal road and trail system. The terrain consists of paved roads at the start and finish, while the majority of the route features loose gravel, rocks, roots, uneven ground, and stream crossings. Due to these surface conditions, the 5K course is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. The 400m dashes are held as shorter alternatives for specific participant groups.
Registered participants in the 5K receive a t-shirt and a wooden commemorative medal. Participants in the 400m dashes receive a wooden medal. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers in the 5K, with additional recognition across age groups ranging from 19 and under to 70 and up.
The venue provides handicap-accessible restrooms located behind the dining hall, while additional facilities are available at the bathhouse. Parking is primarily on grass surfaces with limited handicap-accessible spots. Pets are permitted at the event if they are leashed and well-behaved, though they are not allowed inside buildings or on the 5K course.
