Byron Rainforest Run 2026
Byron Rainforest Run takes place on 27 June 2026 at Minyon Falls in Nightcap National Park. The event is hosted by Byron Bay Runners and is conducted as a leave-no-trace, sustainability-focused trail run through World Heritage rainforest on the slopes of the Wollumbin shield volcano.
The event offers three marked trail courses that mix single track and graded fire trails, with multiple water crossings, steep ascents, and sections of boggy or slippery ground. Scenic sections pass close to Minyon Falls, ridgeline viewpoints and varied rainforest terrain. Aid stations are located at the event hub and approximately every 6 to 8 kilometres.
Distances and minimum ages:
- Nightcap Nudge - 13.1 km, 496 m elevation, age 14+
- The Postie’s Round - 26.5 km, 921 m elevation, age 16+
- Minyon Ultra - 50.8 km, 2,002 m elevation, age 18+
Mandatory requirements include downloading an offline map and GPX route to a phone, carrying a heavy-duty snake bandage, and carrying additional gear by distance. Longer courses require water and further mandatory items such as a headlamp, waterproof jacket, thermal top and space blanket. The Minyon Ultra has intermediate and overall cutoff restrictions; participants who miss cutoffs will be withdrawn and recorded as DNF.
The event is listed as sold out. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
