Event overview

The Buffalo Stampede Festival is a multi-day trail and sky running festival held in Bright and Mount Buffalo, Victoria. It is organised by SingleTrack Events and is listed as the Australian Long Course Trail National Championship for 2026. The festival attracts over 3,000 trail runners from across Australia and overseas. The 2026 festival runs from 27 to 29 March, and entries for 2026 are open.

Races and format

The programme includes a range of distances and race formats, from short family runs to long mountain ultras. Key events and formats include:

  • 100 km Relay teams of four on the 100 km course
  • 42 km SkyMarathon (downhill from Mount Buffalo to Bright)
  • 20 km SkyRun (loop from Bright to Mystic and Clearspot)
  • 10 km Twilight (includes climb up Emily's Spur and descent via Mystic Park MTB trails)
  • 5 km Family Trail
  • 2 km Junior Trail Run

There are also combined stage events: the Ultra Slam at 152 km (10 km + 100 km + 42 km) and the Grand Slam at 72 km (10 km + 20 km + 42 km).

Bogong to Hotham on Jan 17 2026 offers 29k, 35k and 64k options finishing at the Mt Hotham summit in the Victorian High Country. Join the 35th running for alpine trails, big views and open registration.

Challenge yourself at the Mt Bogong Conquestathon on 28 February 2026, a 21 km round trip with 1,410 m ascent to the summit of Victoria's highest peak. Entries capped at 350 support local community groups and Search and Rescue volunteers.
